How to do it
Pick 3-4 new or barely tried boulders near your flash level. Before starting each one, decide how many attempts you get (never more than 10), and try to climb it perfectly - smooth and controlled - within that limit. Rest 2-3 minutes between attempts.
Who it’s for
Climbers who brute-force problems with volume. Setting an attempt limit before you start forces you to think between goes instead of throwing yourself at it.
Common mistakes
- Moving the limit once you’ve hit it. Decide first, then stick to it.
- Aiming to top rather than to climb well. Perfect means smooth and controlled. A scrappy send doesn’t count.
- Skipping the thinking between goes. Two to three minutes rest is thinking time.
How to progress
Lower the attempt limit, or move to harder boulders. Getting a near-flash-level boulder perfect in three attempts is a real skill.
