Send the squad one plan. See who needs a word tonight.

It shows up in each climber’s app, and you can change one climber’s copy without touching the rest. Before training, the check-ins they send tell you who slept badly and whose fingers hurt.

Or start coaching free. A club of 30 climbers and three coaches is on the plan for up to 50: €179 a year, about €6 a climber.

How a squad works

One plan for the whole squad

Send a plan to the squad, or to the climbers you pick, with a start date. It shows up in each climber’s app. Change one climber’s copy on its own, say for a sore finger, without touching the rest.

  • Send to a squad or to picked climbers
  • Change one climber’s copy
  • Your library of plans, per squad

Workload, week by week

Spot the climber who’s suddenly training twice as much as usual. Each session they log counts by its minutes and how hard it felt, from 1 to 10, and their page shows seven weeks against their usual range. On a paid plan they see the same chart in their app.

  • Their usual range comes from the four weeks before
  • No effort picked? It guesses one from the session
Eva’s Workload in the coach area: seven weeks of bars, this week 267 against a usual 196 to 319.

Team trainings on the right day

Name the squad’s weekly trainings, like Tuesday’s Squad Training. Climbers see them on that day with what’s on, and log them in one tap, so they count in their week. At the gym, take attendance and run the timer for the group.

  • What’s on, and a note for the squad
  • Attendance in a tap
  • The guided timer for the whole group

Check-ins before training

Each climber can answer a few quick questions about sleep, body and head, and whether anything hurts. Pain and anyone gone quiet go to the top of your screen, and you mark a flag as handled: talked to them, told a parent or sent to a doctor.

  • Finger pain flagged, with where it hurts
  • A note for you and the other coaches
  • The app flags pain; it doesn’t diagnose anything

What it costs

Priced by how many climbers the team coaches, with every coach included. When the team reaches a plan’s limit, the next climber waits until you move up, and nobody already in loses anything. Prices include 21% Dutch VAT.

It’s cheap on purpose: about €6 a climber for the whole year is less than a day pass at most gyms.

Volunteer coaches

  1. A head coach sends them a single-use invite, lets them in and gives them their squads.
  2. They make a free coach account. There’s nothing to pay, and coaches have to be 18 or over.
  3. On first login they see their squads, each with its climbers and this week. At the gym, Tonight in the iPhone app shows who’s here and runs the timer for the group.
The coach view’s Tonight tab: who’s here, Start timer and what’s on.

How climbers join

  1. Make the squad

Choose adults or youth. The squad gets its own join code.

  2. Share the code

One code for the whole squad: on a poster, in the group chat or read out at training.

  3. Climbers ask to join

They join in the free app or the browser and agree to what you’ll see.

  4. You let them in

A coach lets each one in, so a stranger with the code doesn’t get in and the squad’s places go to climbers you know.

Kids and parents

  • 16 and over join themselves.
  • 13 to 15 join once a parent says yes in an email from Blok Sessions, and can take that yes back from the same email.
  • Under 13 join as a profile a parent adds to their own free account.

The email lists everything the coaches will see, and the parent confirms the child’s date of birth. A parent has 14 days to answer; if nobody does, the request ends and nothing was shared. In a youth squad, coaches add a height every 3 months to see how fast a climber is growing. No messages in youth squads, and until a parent says yes the climber waits and you see nothing of their training.

The page for parents

For your board

Where the data is
In the EU, with Supabase in Ireland. Blok Sessions (Frank Blokdijk, the Netherlands) is responsible for it under the GDPR (AVG).
How long it’s kept
Check-ins until a climber leaves the squad, and 12 months at most. Heights 24 months, or until 18. A parent’s details 30 days after a climber leaves the squad.
What’s collected
The sessions climbers log, their tests, the check-ins they send before training and, in a youth squad, a height every 3 months. Check-ins, pain flags and heights are health data under the GDPR, so they’re shared only with explicit consent: the climber’s, or a parent’s under 16. Only the squad’s coaches and the team’s head coaches see them.
Data processing agreement
There isn’t one to sign, on purpose. Blok Sessions is the controller for everything stored in the app, and your club is an independent controller for what its coaches do with what they see. Nobody processes data on the club’s behalf, so a processor agreement (verwerkersovereenkomst) doesn’t fit. The coach terms say who’s responsible for what. The data passes through Supabase (storage), Stripe (payment) and Resend (email). Your board’s questions come to me at hello@bloksessions.com.
If the club stops paying
Nothing is deleted. At the end of the period you paid for, the team goes back to the free plan: everyone already in stays, the plans stay with the climbers, and you keep seeing their training. New climbers wait until you’re under five again, and the guided timer and Workload a paid plan gives climbers switch off. Every climber can export their own logbook as a CSV file at any time.
Who runs the team
Head coaches. A team can have several, and the last one can’t step down without handing over first, so it never hangs on one person’s login.

Questions from clubs

Do they need an iPhone?

No. The Android app is in review at Google, and until it’s out, climbers on Android join and train in the web app at bloksessions.com/app with the same account.

Do parents of under-13s need an account?

Yes, a free one. The child joins as a profile in the parent’s own account.

Can a climber be in a squad and have their own coach?

Yes. Both coaches see their training, and each sees only the plans they sent.

What happens when someone leaves?

Either side can end it. You stop seeing their training, their check-ins are deleted, and the plans you sent stay with them. A head coach can take a coach out of the team the same way.

How does the club pay?

Yearly or monthly, on Stripe’s checkout page, with an invoice by email. Questions about paying go to hello@bloksessions.com.
