A climbing training planner for coaches
Make a plan for the climber you coach, lay out their weeks by hand in training periods like Strength or Deload, copy a week forward and save sessions you reuse as templates. Then send it, as a plan file or with a private link, and the climber adds their own copy to their free account. Planning and sending plans are free for you and for them. Pro (€2.99 a month, €14.99 a year or €24.99 once) adds the plan generator and guided sessions. It's a planner: you don't see your climbers' logs, so agree how they'll report back.
In Blok Sessions you make a plan for someone you coach, then send it with a private link so they add their own copy.
Start with the free six-week strength plan: a file for the app and seven short emails on how to run it.
Or start planning in your browser with a free account.

What it does for a coach
Blok Sessions was built for climbers planning their own training, and the same planner works when the plan is for someone else. Here’s what’s there:
- A plan for someone you coach. When you make a plan, choose who it’s for. Your own plan and your climbers’ plans sit side by side.
- Weeks in training periods. Group the weeks into periods like Base, Strength, Power or Deload. Every exercise shows its minutes, intensity, injury risk and which periods it’s for, so you can see at a glance whether a Deload week is really a deload.
- Copy a week, save templates. Build a week once and copy it forward. Save a session you give to several climbers as a template.
- Add it to your calendar. The plan’s sessions go in your calendar, next to everything else.
- Send it. Share the plan as a file the climber imports, or send it with a private link. Either way they add their own copy to their plans, and they can move its start date.
A way to run it with a climber
- Test first. The app has five benchmark tests: 20 mm half crimp, 20 mm open hand, max 2-rep pull-up, max hang endurance and bodyweight. Have the climber do them in their own app and send you the numbers.
- Plan one block. Four to eight weeks in one or two periods, with a deload week at the end.
- Send it. A private link is quickest. The climber opens it and adds the plan to their account.
- Check in every couple of weeks. Ask what they did and how it felt. Climbers can share a session or the month’s stats as an image straight from the app.
- Retest, then send the next block. Same tests at the end, so you’re both looking at numbers rather than a feeling.
Where it stops
It’s a planner, and it’s honest to say where that ends. Each climber trains and logs in their own account, and you don’t see that log in your app. Agree up front how they’ll report back: a shared image, a message after each week, or the test numbers at the end of the block.
It also doesn’t know your climber. Every exercise has an injury risk rating, and the exercise pages say who each one isn’t for, but whether this climber is ready for max hangs or campus ladders is your call. For a climber with a current injury, the plan waits until a physio has seen them.
Sharing more widely
A plan that’s good for one climber is often good for others. You can also share a plan to bloksessions.com/community, where anyone with a free account can add it to their plans and rate it once they have. Only do that with plans you’d put your name to: people add them without you there to explain them.
Questions
Does the climber need Pro to follow my plan?
No. A plan works on a free account, with every exercise's sets, rest and minutes. They only need Pro for guided sessions, which time each exercise for them. Pro is €2.99 a month, €14.99 a year or €24.99 once.
Can the climber change the plan I send?
Yes. It's their own copy, so they can move a session when life gets in the way, and changes they make won't affect yours.
Who can open a private plan link?
Anyone who has the link. Send it only to the climber it's for.
My climber has an Android phone. Does that work?
Yes, for the plan. The app is iPhone only, but the planner at bloksessions.com/app works in any browser with a free account, and a private link opens there too.
Can I use the plan generator for someone I coach?
The generator is Pro. It drafts a block from a goal, a schedule and a time budget, and you edit it from there. Treat it as a first draft, and check every week before you send it.
