How to do it
On easy vertical or overhanging boulders with big holds, pick moves where you can let go with both hands and catch the next two holds at the same time, driving with your legs. Climb 5-6 boulders this way, a few times each, resting between climbs. Start with small double moves before trying bigger ones.
Who it’s for
Learning to move both hands at once, which comes up constantly in modern setting and feels alien until you’ve practised it.
Common mistakes
- Pulling with the arms. The legs drive it. Arms just catch.
- Starting with big doubles. Small ones first, on big holds.
- Choosing steep ground straight away. Vertical or gently overhanging to learn on.
How to progress
Bigger double moves, then worse target holds, then steeper walls. Once it’s comfortable, it turns out to be the solution to a lot of problems you’d been doing statically.
