How to do it

Stand below your project (or sit with your eyes closed at home). Picture yourself climbing it from start to top in real time: every hand and foot placement, your body position, how each hold feels, where you breathe, and how you push through the hardest move. If you get stuck on a move, replay it until you can see it clearly. Do it 3 times, miming the moves with your hands, then climb.

Who it’s for

Projecting, and any attempt that matters. Rehearsing in real time is the part that makes it work: a sped-up mental run misses exactly the moments where you fall.

Common mistakes

  • Rushing it. Real time. If the climb takes ninety seconds, so does the rehearsal.
  • Skipping the hard move. That’s the one to replay until you can see it clearly.
  • Only picturing the hands. Feet, body position, breathing, and how each hold feels.

How to progress

Add detail: the texture of the hold, where you chalk, what you do after a fall. Miming the moves with your hands makes it noticeably more vivid.
