How to do it
Climb boulders at your flash level while placing every hand and foot silently. If you hear a scrape or thud, step off and start again. Climb 6-8 boulders.
Who it’s for
Everyone. Noise is wasted energy and imprecise placement, and the restart rule makes it impossible to ignore.
Common mistakes
- Letting a small scrape go. Step off and start again. That’s the drill.
- Only listening to your feet. Hands slap too.
- Boulders that are too hard. Flash level, so you have attention to spare.
How to progress
Harder boulders and steeper ground. On a board, where the holds are unforgiving, quiet climbing is much harder than it sounds.
